2025

Our final event of the semester was the Paired Writing Challenge. Participants first wrote short pieces based on different prompts. Then, they were randomly paired with another member and tasked with combining their two pieces into one cohesive story or poem. The results were creative, unexpected, and often hilarious, showcasing how collaboration can lead to unique and imaginative outcomes. SDG 8, SDG 11

2024

Members and guests were invited to share their written pieces with an audience. The topics ranged widely, from poetry and short stories to personal reflections. The event created a laid-back, fun, and supportive environment, allowing participants to connect through storytelling and celebrate one another’s work. SDG 11
This event was inspired by the classic game Mafia. Each participant received a character role, and one secretly played the murderer. We also had themed snacks to make the event more interesting including ghost lollipops, “trick or treat” Ferrero Rochers (where some were real chocolates and others were just wrappers hiding puff balls), and an assortment of candies and chocolates. The treats added a fun, spooky twist that perfectly matched the theme and kept everyone in high spirits throughout the night. The evening was filled with laughter, dramatic storytelling, and plenty of suspense. It was a fantastic way to combine writing and performance, and it brought out the playful, theatrical side of our members. SDG 11
Next, we hosted a Blackout Poetry activity. Participants were given photocopied book pages and one hour to craft poems by blacking out selected words. The results were incredibly creative, and the event proved to be both relaxing and inspiring. Members enjoyed the hands-on aspect and the freedom to experiment with language and design.SDG 11
In this interactive session, members drew random combinations from two cups, one filled with genres and the other with writing prompts or items. Each member had about 30 minutes to write a short piece. This event encouraged quick thinking, creativity, and exploration of unfamiliar genres. It was lively, thought-provoking, and gave everyone a chance to step outside their usual writing comfort zones.SDG 11
